Here are some notes from Sujean Oh (Gire Lab, University of Washington):

Note the locations of the jumpers:

1. Between ground pins in the center of the board

2. Between center and right pins of the 3.5 mm audio jack.

For a signal generator, I am using an iOS app called Oscillator, which is typically used to test sound equipment.
