Design and build a targeting cone for your experiment

(this page is under construction)

OvalDrive36 can accomodate up to 36 movable probes, plus any number of additional stationary probes such as ground wires, reference electrodes, intracranial injection cannula, etc.  Each probe is targeted at a specific brain region by threading it into a guide tube that aims it toward its target. Guide tubes can be stacked into "bundles" that configure the probes into geometric arrangements that direct them through a desired set of brain targets. The diagram at right shows a menu of guide tube bundle configurations that you can choose from.

Two tasks must be performed to construct the targeting cone assembly:

TASK 1: DESIGN AND PRINT YOUR TARGETING CONE

1) Download the SolidWorksTM template containing the blank targeting cone file

2) Watch the instructional video on how to perform 3D alignment of your probe trajectories

3) Fabricate the targeting cone on a 3D printer

TASK 2: BUILD AND INSTALL THE GUIDE TUBE BUNDLES

1) Cut and store the guide tubes

2) Cut and store the bundle collars

3) Assemble the guide tube bundles

4) Construct the siting pin

5) Install the guide tube bundles
