Customized Tap Plug

You must tap the shuttle bolt holes in the Drive Core with an 0-80 tap plug. However, a standard 0-80 tap plug has a shank diameter of .014", which is too large to fit into the shuttle bay grooves on the Drive Core.  Therefore, you will need to make a customized tap plug for tapping the shuttle bolt holes, pictured at right.

To modify the tap plug, machine at least .08" of the shank's front end down to a diameter of .012" so that it will fit into the shuttle bay groove. Any remaining length of the tap plug can be kept at the original diameter of .014".

It is a good idea to make two or three of these modified tap plugs, so you will have extras on hand in case of loss or damage.
